Search For Flight MH370 Suspended

After three years with no luck, authorities have officially ended the underwater search for Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370. The plane disappeared over the Indian Ocean on March 8, 2014, while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, with 239 people on board.

There were no distress calls to indicate a problem prior to the plane’s disappearance. In fact, the last communication from the aircraft was uneventful. For unknown reasons, the plane changed course after that final communication. Pieces confirmed to be from the plane have washed up, so it is clear that the plane crashed; however, there is no concrete proof as to what actually happened and may never be. There is no shortage of theories.

Investigators followed a projected path in assessing where to search. But, without a precise place to start, and without obvious debris in the water at the crash site, officials have been searching a vast area. While officials claim to have used all available technology, they have ultimately called an end to the expensive search. As a result, the cause of the crash of MH370 remains a mystery, and families of those lost will likely never have answers.
